Ceramic Protection Tubes


Ceramic protection tubes provide protection for thermocouples from corrosive and abrasive atmospheres present in industrial processes. They are closed at one end of the tube and the thermocouple and connection head are assembled and mounted into the process. The material chosen for the ceramic protection tube is determined by the type of application that the the thermocouple will be exposed to.

Silicon Carbide protection tubes provide a excellent thermal shock resistance. Resistance to corrosion and abrasion at temperatures above the range of nickel chrome alloys is a feature that allows use in the most demanding corrosive application – which includes molten salt. An inner alumina tube must be used when noble metal thermocouples are employed.
